The Maine hospitality tourism and industry has been enduring struggles spanning from decreased overall visitor numbers last summer, to the potential effects of decreased tourism again this year from Canadian tourists not crossing the border in as large numbers as previously. The Maine legislature has now proposed a law,
LD 1928 , prohibiting hotels from providing single-use plastic containers to guests for health and beauty products.
In an economic reality where our industry is struggling to keep pace with years past, this bill represents a government mandate that would be burdensome on its own, but in this current timeframe, it would be particularly problematic for you as a hotel owner/operator in Maine.
We need your voices to let your senators and representatives know that this bill absolutely should not advance nor become law. While sample language is available to use, it is much more impactful if you take a few minutes to personalize the message and let them know how this burdensome proposal would further strain an already struggling Maine hospitality and tourism industry.
Thank you for participating in this advocacy initiative to prevent legislation from being enacted that would negatively impact your business and the industry at large.
