U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg visited the Charlotte Douglas International Airport to announce the facility is receiving $27 million to replace 16 jetway bridges used for passengers to get on the planes. AAHOA Member Vinay Patel, executive committee chair of the Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority and CLT Alliance Advocacy Committee member spoke on the importance of the airport to tourism and economic development. N.C. Gov. Roy Cooper also attended along with Maylor Vi Lyles.
The airport is the eighth busiest airport in the world in terms of flights and serves as an economic engine of the region.
