Hotel Association of Los Angeles Study Finds “Homeless in Hotels Ballot Measure” Would Cost L.A. $1.8 Billion

The City of Los Angeles just released a report by Beacon Economics that analyzes the “Responsible Hotel Ballot Measure”—a.k.a. the “Homeless in Hotels Ballot Measure.”

Their in-depth, 56-page analysis illustrates—and quantifies—the massive damage Local 11 Laws will inflict upon the city of Los Angeles, its economy, and its people.

AAHOA took a strong stance against the original ordinance when it was introduced more than a year ago, in August of 2022.

On August 5, 2022, approximately 150 local AAHOA Los Angeles Members and association leaders, including President & CEO Blake, Regional Director ND Bhakta, and NELA leader Ray Patel, attended the LA City Council meeting and testified to raise awareness of the high impact this mandatory ordinance would have on the industry.

Starting in the Executive Summary, Beacon states these laws “would have an adverse impact on the health and competitiveness of the hotel industry, a negative impact on City tax revenues, and a negative economic impact.”
