Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP®) is developing a digital responsibility code for the hospitality industry.
Why it matters: The industry lacks unified digital guidelines, prompting HFTP to take action.
Who's involved: Neal Patel, Managing Partner of Blue Chip Hotels and Past AAHOA Chairman (2022-2023), joins the task force alongside other industry leaders and academics. Neal Patel's involvement underscores AAHOA's commitment to advancing industry standards and shaping the future of hospitality.
The details: HFTP commissioned a white paper from the University of Houston, highlighting the need for digital responsibility. The group will aggregate best practices into a comprehensive digital responsibility code. The task force, co-chaired by Scot Campbell and Agnes DeFranco, includes experts from various sectors, such as:
Mike Blake, VP of IT for Kemper Sports
Shannon McCallum, VP of Hotel Operations at Resorts World Las Vegas
Steven Bronken, Head of Global Hospitality for Ruckus Networks
Key quotes:
Thomas Atzenhofer, HFTP Deputy CEO: “HFTP’s task force... has agreed to tackle the task and make the industry better for all segments.”
Scot Campbell, Task Force Co-chair: “It is more prudent to have these guidelines developed for the industry by the industry.”
What’s next:
Initial task force meetings start at HITEC 2024 in Charlotte, N.C.
Draft guidelines will be open for industry feedback.
Compliance seals for enterprises adhering to the guidelines.
