AAHOA Commends President Trump's Address to Congress, Commitment to Tax Relief for Small
Business Owners

WASHINGTON, D.C., MARCH 5, 2025—The Asian American Hotel Owners Association (AAHOA), the largest hotel owners association in the world, commends President Donald J. Trump for his first Joint Address to Congress and the nation and his commitment to the American Dream. His affirmation that "The American Dream is unstoppable" is a sentiment that resonates deeply with AAHOA Members—hardworking entrepreneurs, small business owners, and job creators across the hospitality industry.

AAHOA applauds the prioritization of tax relief for American families and small businesses, including urging bipartisan support to extend and expand tax reductions, along with his proposal to eliminate taxes on tips, overtime pay, and Social Security benefits. These initiatives would provide direct economic benefits to millions of workers in the hospitality industry while empowering small business owners to reinvest in their employees, businesses, and communities.

"President Trump's proposals are the kind of tax reforms our industry needs. That's why AAHOA will be in Washington, D.C., next week, March 11-12, to advocate for these critical measures," said AAHOA Chairman Miraj S. Patel. "The timing couldn't be better, and we look forward to engaging with lawmakers to ensure the voices of America's hotel owners are heard, as tax relief and pro-business policies are essential to keeping America's hotel industry strong."

AAHOA remains dedicated to advocating for policies that promote fair taxation, access to capital, and a level playing field for small business owners, and looks forward to working with the administration and Congress to ensure that these tax reforms become a reality.

"The hospitality industry is built on the entrepreneurial spirit of hardworking individuals who strive every day to achieve the American Dream," said AAHOA President & CEO Laura Lee Blake. "AAHOA applauds President Trump for recognizing the essential role of small business owners and for advancing policies that promote economic growth, job creation, and financial security for our workforce."

By reducing the tax burden on small businesses and employees, these policies will help drive innovation, expansion, and economic prosperity throughout the hospitality industry.
