Voters in Anaheim, CA Take a Stand Against Proposed $25 Minimum Wage for Hotel and Event Workers in Special Election on Tuesday, October 3

This week, AAHOA can celebrate a win for hoteliers in Anaheim, California. This Tuesday, October 3, voters in Anaheim, CA, overwhelmingly voted against giving hotel and event workers a $25 minimum wage, as 68% voted against it and 32% voted for it out of 29,085 votes.

This initiative adversely impacts AAHOA Members, many of whom own limited-service hotels owned by first or second generation immigrants, or people of color. AAHOA appreciates those who took time to vote in Anaheim, California’s October 3rd Special Election. Our members plan to continue working with their local governments to find labor solutions that work for everyone. This election result is a triumph for hoteliers in the Greater Los Angeles Area region along with many other metro Los Angeles County cities that are considering wage hikes for tourism or hotel workers.
